I have a gift card for "On the Border". It was issued for $25.00. I went to the Topeka, KS, "On the Border" on 5/24/2011. My total tab was $11.42. I paid with the gift card. I left a $2.00 cash tip. On the receipt, I did not put a tip amount at all. I put in parentheses to the side of the tip line, "Separate".
When I went back a second time on 7/5/2011, I expected to have a balance of $13.58. My meal charge was again $11.42. However, instead of a balance of $2.16, the balance was only $.16!
Someone had taken an extra $2.00 from my gift card on 5/24/2011. I spoke to the manager, but he did not seem to care about the situation and did not offer to do anything about it.
I do not understand how the restaurant can deduct more than I authorized them to deduct. I do not know how to go about getting the money put back on my card now and no one seems willing to correct the mistake for me.
